DEIMOS STOOD in the middle of the large room, surrounded by stone. Accents of gold gilded a chair, usually a resting place for a weary soul. With a shift of his body, he paced slowly. Every now and then, stray rays of moonlight illuminated his face and his glowering, cold eyes. For a while, he had fought to gain back his power, but it was like water slipping through his fingers.

On the edge of death seventeen years ago, Deimos nearly had that child in his grasp; he could have yanked the very life from it with the mother lying prone and so vulnerable. However, those accursed Peacekeepers had been in the way, numbing his senses and prevented the death of the destined ruler, casting him out of the window like a sack of potatoes. He recalled the pain and humiliation of being bested, and the cries of that child sent icy daggers into his chest. With every cry, she sucked his powers and drained the last of his life force.

As distance grew between him and the child, however, his aches faded away and his powers, while still deathly low, hung on by a thread. He gritted his fangs and bared it, taking the time to focus instead of resting to regain his strength while still keeping the throne.

Rumors and whispers had spread through the kingdoms though. The fact that there was a half-blooded heir to the throne excited many. Even with Deimos still alive and threatening lives, the whispers hadn’t stopped in the least. They seemed to grow. They thought this would be the end of their tyrannical leader.

Soon the child would have enough strength to stand against him in battle, and Deimos had discovered that the child was sent to work with trainers to help her develop her skills and future. This in itself had thrown him into a panic. There had to be something that he could do. And then, the oddest little thought came to him, and he sneered.

That human was always looking for riches , unafraid of the Werekin, no matter the threat they posed. Perhaps something could be arranged… Mr. Dominic could take care of the issue without difficulty. Some money for a continued throne. That was indeed a lovely trade-off.

At least, that was the plan they’d set into motion a few months ago. It started with a little friendly nudge of a greeting , and then, a year later, drugging and kidnapping, bringing the girl into a world of lies. It seemed to go so smoothly. So why then had the sudden feeling of that stabbing pain returned to his heart?

Deimos let out a low growl, hand colliding with the nearest stone pillar, a tremor and cracks rising through it rapidly, a deformed imprint remained in the column of stone. Withdrawing his hand, he silently regarded the damage done, glancing to his bloody fist. That wasn’t quite right. Before the birth of that accursed child, he would have split the column in half, letting the sharp projectiles lodge in the wall, and then ordered his servants to build another one in its place. His power wasn’t even half of what it was supposed to be.

The massive steel doors opened, and he crossed his arms over his chest, nodding to the side. A servant, previously quivering from the blow landing on the pillar, hastily grasped a handle and strained to turn it, moving it with some difficulty as the gears shifted. Slowly, the opening at the peak of the chamber widened, letting in a glorious stream of light, allowing Deimos to bask in the moon’s rays, gaining some strength to face the being who would come through those doors.

“My Lord, Mr. Dominic is here to see you!” A hesitant pageboy darted into the room, bowing his head and shivering at the growl that came in response, glancing up to catch his Lord’s eyes in full rage, the color draining from his face quickly.

“Leave once you allow him inside.”

The pageboy nodded a few times rapidly, turning quickly to the door, scrambling outside and bringing Mr. Dominic within the room.

The man was tall and built for a brawl, even in the professional suit he wore. His muscles were defined, his cool blue eyes and light blond hair completing his cold appearance. While the man smiled in greeting, there was something beyond those eyes, something that threatened, as if he just knew about Deimos’ weakness.

“You called me to talk of a concern, Lord Deimos?” The man’s tone was polite, though amused, and that made Deimos all the more irritated.

A short growl left Deimos’ lips before he descended the few sets of stairs to move in front of him, his cold, steel-toned eyes glaring at the imposing male in front of him. “You said you needed recruits, said that you needed money to expand your business. Though I highly dislike your kind, I fulfilled those requirements. So long as you kept your end of the bargain, keeping that female out of the way, mind wiped and out of my hair, I will continue to contribute.” The words spewed forth like a thick roll of growls as Deimos paced back and forth, never removing his eyes from the man.

“Yes. It was an… unfortunate accident. I quite nearly lost my most reliable man to one of your mongrels. No matter what I had requested before, he did without fail. This was out of both of our hands, Deimos.” The kind smile on Dominic’s face warped into something quite sinister, his eyes darkening as they narrowed and locked with Deimos’ own.

Both of them stared daggers against the other, before Deimos let out a short huff, crossing his arms, toying with a few longer locks of his dark-brown hair. “So, then. What will you do to make up for this, hmm? You still need funds, and I need that wench out of my hair. You best figure something out soon, otherwise you’ll be digging for gold in dangerous areas, Dominic.” Deimos turned sharply and stalked back up the stairs, walking over to the throne before sitting, crossing his legs.

“I’ll wait here for your result, Dominic. If nothing is done soon, I’ll start removing your recruits, one by one. With my own hands, if necessary.” Those steely eyes regarded the human again.

Dominic merely chuckled, bowing rather dramatically with a smirk. “As you wish, my Lord. I’ll see to the erasure of the half-breed for you.” He shifted and turned swiftly, walking back to the doors and out, his eyes glowing slightly with animosity.

Tugging his phone from his pocket, he dialed and placed it next to his ear, walking out to his private limo. He slid into it, crossing his legs as the vehicle smoothly departed the wooded area. “Yes. No, nothing to worry about. Send Mamoru out there, have him deal with the girl and her family. Too bloody? No, don’t be ridiculous. Hospitals are used to cleaning up blood, are they not?” Ending the call with a laugh, Dominic tossed the phone across from him on the seat, leaning back and closing his eyes. Yes… there would be blood.

I changed this because the pack had sent her away because it was her time and she wasn’t the one who sought out the trainers since they were already set in place for her arrival.

This phrase sounds odd for some reason… human in greeting?
